There is so much complexity to the relationships between people. Creating personalized portraits allows an artist the opportunity to bring into focus the subtle nuances of a person’s life. I explore, through the use of ‘landscapes of the mind’,  the psychology of my subjects. The imagery, in the background and throughout the composition, is intended to portray different aspects of the subject’s inner world. Many of the subjects and themes of my work are personal to me and, by using art as a tool for self-examination, I aim to process and better understand the nuances of my own life. I hope to communicate to the audience these feelings and ideas in a universally expressive language that they might see the world through my eyes and, in that way, connect with me.
